The 19th edition of the Asian Games is going to start on 10th September 2022, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. Hangzhou will be the third Chinese city to host the Asian Games, after Beijing in 1990 (later hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics) and Guangzhou in 2010. Asia’s most popular games Kabaddi was introduced for the first time in the 1990 Asian Games held in Beijing China only. Till now men’s kabaddi team of India won seven times gold medals in Asian games while Iran won only one time. Iran is defending champion in Asian Games Men’s and women’s Kabaddi category.
In the 19th edition of the Asian Games, the Kabaddi event will be from 18th September to 23 September 2022. The schedule for the Kabaddi Events in Asain Games 2022 has been declared. This time also all the participating nations are divided into two groups (Group A & Group B) in both Men and Women categories.
The Indian Kabaddi Team is the most successful kabaddi team in the Asian games held till now. Indian Kabaddi Team has 9 Gold medals with seven times (men’s) and twice (women’s). Last season Iran won both men’s and women’s category Kabaddi matches.
Kabaddi at the Asian Games 2022 will mark the first time where 11 teams in the men’s category and 9 teams in the women’s category.
